Laboratory Training Experience

 

 

Visiting Fellow/Scientist
Program in 

Primary Immunodeficiencies

 

 

 

  

This newly established program gives fellows or recent graduates in an immunology training program the ability to enhance a specific clinical or laboratory procedure related to primary immunodeficiencies.

Fellow/Scientist will have the opportunity to visit a center with expertise in the Primary Immune Deficiency Diseases to learn laboratory techniques.  Examples might include HLA typing, cord blood collection, flow cytometric analysis for immunodeficiency or isolation and separation of dendritic cells.

Training opportunities are offered from one week to two weeks to gain laboratory experiences.

A stipend of $2000 to $3000 will be awarded for travel and living expenses depending on length of training.
 
Applicants must apply to the USIDNET Mentoring Committee submitting:
  • A curriculum vitae
  • A letter from the head of the program/laboratory director agreeing to provide supervision for the proposed training
  • A career statement outlining career goals and the impact of this training on their career gools
  • A letter of support from the applicant's training director or chairman of the training program.  

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the Mentoring Committee composed of members of the Steering Committee and Advisory Panel as designated by the Steering Committee.  The Mentoring Committee will have no fewer than three members.
