Summer School

                                                                                                                  The Summer School experience is designed 

                                                                                to train new clinical investigators in the 

                                                                                field of Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases. 

 

                                                                                PIDD SUMMER SCHOOL 2008

 
The Clinical Immunology Society has accepted 32 applicants to attend the
2008 School in Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases
September 11-15, 2008
in Sunny Isles, Florida 


The course is taught over a five-day interval at a site that offers a residential experience promoting formal and informal interactions between students and faculty. All participants are provided with travel grants to assist with airfare, hotel, and meal expenses

 

There are two broad areas in the curriculum:

  • Faculty presentations

  • Student case presentations on the PIDD's

Topics covered include SCID, stem cell transplantation, defects of B cells, Hyper IgM syndromes, neutrophil disorders, cytokine receptor defects, Di George anomaly, Wiskott Aldrich syndrome, IPEX syndrome, new defects of innate immunity, and some as yet unknown cases.


Written materials are prepared by the faculty for use during the course and are to be kept by the students for future reference.
