Short Term Training

Visiting Immunology Scholar

Many medical centers do not have expertise in the area of primary immune deficiency. To increase the exposure of potentially interested younger physicians or scientists to these diseases, a visiting student elective will be offered which will provide the opportunity to spend one to two weeks at another medical center which specializes in the study of one or more aspects of primary immune deficiency.

This program is also available to highly selected MD or MD, PhD candidates giving them the opportunity to visit a Medical Center with PIDD expertise, and a large patient population.  This opportunity permits first hand observation of patient evaluation and treatment, or familiarization with useful laboratory technologies, or both.

A stipend of $2000 for one week or $3000 for two weeks will be awarded for travel and living expenses to a specific site offering training in the Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases.

Prospective applicants must submit:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A career statement outlining goals and the potential impact of a traveling scholarship experience on attaining these goals

A letter will also be required from the applicant's proposed training supervisor outlining the proposed educational experience.
